Very rough concept of a turn based combat system.

The window is very small, so I suggest clicking the expand button in the bottom right corner to maximize it.

Controls

  • Arrow Keys - Navigate menus
  • Enter Key - Select Abilities/Targets
  • Q - Switch between selection mode and check mode
    • Selection mode allows you to select items from menus
    • Check mode allows you to highlight status effects on characters to see what they do
  • X - Cancel targeting for an ability and return to ability selection
  • T - End the combat earlier or reset combat once it is ended

Basics

  • All abilities have a type indicated by their icon
    • Core (), Weapon (), or Tech ()
  • Some abilities generate heat when used  ()
  • All abilities have a basic effect (first listed)
  • Some abilities have an effect that occurs when they target a character with the Lock On status effect (shown with )
  • Some abilities have an effect that occurs when the user has the Stable status effect (shown with )
  • Armor () reduces damage by a flat amount
    • Armor piercing damage ignores armor
  • If a character's heat goes over their maximum, they become Exposed () and take double damage

Status Effects

  •  Lock On - Consumed by abilities TARGETING THIS CHARACTER; Provides additional effects
  •  Stable - Consumed by abilities USED BY THIS CHARACTER; Provides additional effects
  •  Burn - Deals 3 Damage at the end of the turn (ignores armor)
  •  Exposed - Damage taken is doubled
  •  Jammed - Take 2 Heat after using a Weapon () ability
  •  Scrambled - Take 2 Heat after using a Tech () ability
  •  Shielded - Negates the next instance of heat or damage

Enemy Overview

  • Scout
    • Applies Lock On to your team if no one has it
    • Applies Heat and other debuffs to your team
    • Frail but difficult to overheat
  • Bastion
    • Defends themselves, attacks with their shield, then defends their team
    • Has high armor but low health, and is easy to overheat
  • Infantry
    • Randomly attacks with either their Assault Rifle or their Heavy Blade
    • Assault Rifle deals multiple low damage hits
    • Heavy Blade deals a single powerful hit
    • Simple and tough
  • Bombard
    • Stabilizes themselves before they attack
    • Their attacks hit the whole party for moderate damage or heat
    • Moderately durable but easily interfered with
